An example of tragedy would be when a character dies in a sudden car crash, or an individual dies from a heart attack. I also believe that the word tragedy can refer to smaller scenarios in which an individual experiences pain or hears devastating news regarding a loved one's life. I personally have been thinking loads about tragic scenarios because of my recent diagnosis of appendicitis. In my opinion this qualifies as a tragedy because the pain inflicted upon me, my lack of communication with the outside world, and large amount of homework piling on because of my absence from school.

For example, the story of Romeo and Juliet is considered a tragedy because the feud between Montagues and Capulets.
